October – November 2017: Logo

We picked the club name quickly, but coming up with a logo proved to be a lot more work. As with everything this club does, the girls guided the design.

One young member made this rough draft and highlighted the fantastic acronym that none of us adults noticed. We have Kenedy to thank for the term “SLAC-ker.”

The logo morphed many times as we tried to work in all our club’s interests. How do you fit books, turtles, frogs, boats, unicorns, sewing machines, microscopes, walkie-talkies, teapots, and bones all in one design?

You don’t.

We tried narrowing it down to just a few of our core loves, but that didn’t feel right. After much discussion, we decided to focus on the one thing that started this adventure: Craker.

We ended up with these two designs:

The vote was split right down the middle—two for the design on the left and two for the design on the right. A certain husband, who shall remain nameless, walked through the middle of the meeting and ended up being our official tiebreaker. Three for the design on the right.

While it wasn’t the first choice of every club member, everyone is happy with it now that it’s on our official t-shirts. And we think Craker makes an excellent club mascot.
