Most of the SLAC-kers were joined by family, friends, and other neighbors for our Fall Spring Lake Regatta. We love the social part of this bi-annual event, but the really cool thing is that it’s a chance for other kiddos to try kayaking in calm, safe water. The SLAC-kers know they’re lucky to get to pull out their kayaks (and unicorn float) practically whenever they want. They understand that’s not possible for everyone so they’re happy to share their lake, their boats, and their knowledge with others.

For this Regatta, we chose to up the stakes a bit and offer a pseudo-obstacle course. Many thanks to Lennon and Elliot for setting up a hoop to shoot a ball through while sitting or standing in a boat and many thanks to their dad for making a couple of frames to paddle through (this bit was trickier than it looks—that’s a sharp turn!).

One of our SLAC-kers managed to find an unorthodox way to retrieve her kayak from the middle of the lake. Turtle power! 😉
