December 17, 2017: Badging Ceremony

The most important day of the year! The day we’re allowed to walk around saying “Badges? Of course, we have some stinking badges!” Okay, so the kids didn’t actually do this, but the adults sure had fun with it.

We had a great time at a fellow SLAC-ker’s home.  Eating all the food and doing all the things.

Then we got down to business! We presented the girls with their official SLAC sashes, made with love (and on very short notice) by mentor Janet Gluck.

The girls each earned a badge for learning to kayak responsibly, for attending a lecture at a university, and for reading. Two SLAC-kers earned an additional badge for sewing. The badges we used for this first ceremony are temporary. The adults of the club are working hard to find quality badges that accurately represent the girls’ accomplishments.

Not too shabby considering the girls were SLAC-kers for only three months!
