A SLAC-ker tried her hand at making cheesy noodles. They’re kinda like macaroni & cheese but cheesier and noodle-ier. Just look at all that cheese.
Adding more cheese.
See! We used the noodle-iest noodles possible.
We made what we thought was going to be a quick run to Half Price Books. Who were we kidding? It’s virtually impossible to make a quick run to that store. Sometimes you’re there so long you need a basket.
The girls got some good summer reading material, and a SLAC-ker spent some of her birthday money on a few books for the Spring Lake Adventure Club library.
Then, just when we thought the day couldn’t get any more fun, two SLAC-kers found a musk turtle and put what they learned about photo shoots from their mentors to work.
As a refresher, here are the girls’ mentors doing a photo shoot with a softshell turtle.
And here’s Viviana teaching them how to photograph lizards:

Here’s how the girls’ photos of the little musk turtle turned out…

We learned that musk turtles only come out to lay eggs, so it’s likely she had a nest nearby. The girls documented her and then sent her on her way.
