SLAC-kers love science and getting their hands dirty in nature, but they know it’s important to learn other skills too. Thank goodness they have mentors who have a diverse array of knowledge!

With the help of mentor Janet Gluck, one of our members learned to sew over Thanksgiving weekend.

These pajama pants are so popular, we find excuses to wear them all the time.

During campouts…

…and as “club wear” to more formal events.

Of course, they’re also used as they were originally intended – for sleeping.

But the sewing doesn’t stop there! One of our other members learned to sew from her grandmother and makes all sorts of interesting things. Her sewing is all done by hand, which is another fantastic skill to know.

 

Maybe the girls should start and Etsy shop to help fund some of their adventures. We’ll add that to the agenda for our next meeting. 😉
